Schoolhouse Supplies Supply Drive Presented by Supercuts
The Portland Beavers continue to support Schoolhouse Supplies in their efforts to ensure every child has the tools necessary for success. This August marked the fourth consecutive year that the Beavers have hosted a school supplies drive at a game to benefit this unique non-profit organization. Supercuts sponsored the Beavers’ Back-2-School Day in which fans were asked to bring new or gently used supplies with them to the game for donation. Supercuts helped promote the day and assisted with on-site collection of supplies during the game. PGE Park also served as a supply drive collection site throughout the entire month of August, providing fans not able to attend the Back-2-School Day additional opportunities to donate. With the help of the Beavers and Timbers, Schoolhouse Supplies was able to collect more than $76,000 in supplies through their month long drive. Tools for Schools
Supporting education and decreasing the achievement gap for students in the Portland area are of great importance to the Portland Beavers and Portland Timbers. We realize the significance of putting each child on an even playing field in terms of their learning experience and that is what motivates our continued partnership with Schoolhouse Supplies and their Tools for Schools program. Through this program the Beavers and Timbers have adopted Jason Lee Elementary School for the past three years, providing backpacks filled with school supplies to all 434 children enrolled at the school. Members of the Beavers and Timbers front office staff dedicate a day each August to filling and preparing these backpacks which we then deliver to the students during their first week of school. This partnership has continually proven to be as rewarding of an experience for our staff as it has been for the students, serving as a great team building opportunity and a chance to see the direct impact that our efforts are making. For more information on how to become a Tools for Schools partner, visit www.schoolhousesupplies.org.
